You know, nothing better than ending the first part of Mondaiji returning to its origins with a fun for fun Gift Game, lots of explanations and more character development. I really missed those mondaijis having fun for fun considering the long “Last Embryo” arc. Even more considering that ending. Anyway, this volume was much better than I thought it would be. In the end I could see how much I love this series even though the infodump is heavy and the releases were getting kinda slow in the last 2 years.
There is just too much to comment so I’ll try to cover some of the main events in this volume. I could be wrong about some things (all that eschatology talk for example) so if someone finds something wrong please say so in the comments.
- Taishakut-(帝釈天), I mean, Mikado Tokuteru (御門釈天) lol
One of the most powerful influences in the Little Garden, the one who saved Kuro Usagi by lending his power at volume 10 finally appeared. And just like Kuro Usagi he normally can’t be taken seriously. He is a womanizer, tried to use a fake name when it was pretty obvious that he is the famous War God, Thunder God, etc. Even so, he was the reason that we got some answers. For example about the Last Embryo and their “origin” (not exactly the best term):
Azi Dahaka and Dystopia are supposed to be related with eschatology. According to Taishakuten each one of them is one side of the same coin. Izayoi’s theory was that Azi was related to NBCR weapons, but this isn’t enough to “destroy” even the sun (Izayoi’s prologue from the volume 1). So the only option left is related to the perpetual motion machine of the third kind (“create energy from nothing”).
There is also the question about Izayoi’s real surname. His family name is Saigou. His parents always die, no matter what world they are in. As a result Izayoi always has to live by himself allowing Canaria to meet him. The thing is, his parents were able to create the perpetual motion machine and as a result ended up dying (some country/organization wanting this power). Their final gift to Izayoi was like, using Izayoi’s own body to be a “container” of this machine. Nanomachines. 3S, nano machine unit.
- Izayoi
Real surname: Saigou. Destined to be the hero from the humanity side, while Highness is the hero from the Gods’ side. He can save the world in two different ways:
- Indirectly by creating the perpetual motion machine of the third kind.
- Directly by being the subject of the perpetual motion machine of the third kind.
The first one probably leads to Yo’s future (dystopia). The other one means that he already has the complete machine inside his own body (which explains why End Emptiness “run away” at Coppelia’s side story). Also infinite energy is one of the reasons why both of the Last Embryos were so strong.
Oh well, now for the reason why he cried at the end of volume 11. Izayoi is destined to be a hero. And heroes always win the important battles. So Izayoi was destined to win against Azi. The reason Izayoi was crying was because he was ashamed of himself, after all he was the only one who would survive with 100% of probability in that fight. He somehow “discovered” that during the battle, so if you remember the final words of Azi you can imagine how much this affected Izayoi. Izayoi wasn’t supposed to win in a fair fight, but he had Kuro Usagi’s lance and even Highness’ authority (protection) which made all even more “easier” to him. That’s why during most of the volume Izayoi wasn’t being himself.
Taishakut-, Mikado Tokuteru asked Izayoi if he wanted something because of his results against Azi and he said he wanted nothing. Until he remembered about Gry’s wings and asked to Mikado to give him new wings. Later when he was alone with Mikado he asked about the power scale in Little Garden:
- 1-digit existences are not even related to “win or lose”. They are like natural phenomena.
- There are only 17 existences (Gods? Communities?) of 2-digits.
- Queen Halloween is on a whole other level inside the 3-digits.
(Izayoi’s power itself would put him at 4-digits but he lacks “techniques” like? “Another Cosmology”). By the end Izayoi asks if he would be able to win against Azi by himself. Mikado says that he should find this answer by himself. Then we go to the final Gift Game…
- Asuka and Faceless
Asuka decided to go to other worlds to search for the old members of “No Name”. So she is going to leave the community for some time. And before that we finally discover Faceless identity. She is the dead twin sister Asuka mentioned before (don’t remember exactly which volume was. 2 maybe?). So yeah, Faceless is a knight under Queen Halloween and Asuka always had attraction towards the Halloween by itself. If she didn’t come to Little Garden she would be the cause of something important at England (Halloween related place).
Anyway, at the last Gift Game Faceless decided to duel against Asuka because this was one of the conditions Queen Halloween gave her. Faceless also doesn’t have that much time in Little Garden so the best choice for her is to kill Asuka if not Kudou Ayato (her real name) can never “exist”.
- Yo and No-Name
Jin is missing since the Last Embryo battle. Asuka is going to leave the community. Yo discovers the reason why Izayoi is not being himself from Kuro Usagi. Kuro Usagi also says that Izayoi will probably leave the community for a while in order to train himself. So the new leader of “No Name” turns out to be Yo. There is also the fact that she is Koumei’s daughter and she is strong enough to fight Izayoi head on. Anyway, she provokes Izayoi to fight against her in the final Gift Game while declaring that she was the new leader of “No-Name”. It happens that Izayoi wasn’t listening to it because he was talking with Mikado lol. (Yo’s development here was accepting and turning into the new leader. And some Ayesha stuff).
- New Demon King Alliance
Jin/Pest, Highness, Rin, Demon King of Confusion have the objective of creating a new Demon King Alliance. Each one of them has their own objective:
- Highness (Avatar): Defeat Ouroboros.
- Demon King of Confusion: Create enough chaos on Little Garden so his older sister Son Goku appears in front of him one more time (revenge just like Highness).
- Rin has the objective of finding her family…? Suzuka from Canaria foster home?
- Jin and Pest want enough power to participate at the 2nd Gift Game where Sun’s authorities are the prize (volume 7 promise). And by finding other Demon Kings they can discover who was the Demon King that defeated “No Name” in the past… I guess.
- Others
Willa is a new maid of “No-Name”. Maids too strong.
Ayesha gave up on being a player in order to be a host because “Will-O’-Wisp” doesn’t have more money, nor Jack anymore.
Lily is probably going to obtain some “divinity” during the next years (Croix’s “idea” to help in the recovering of the community).
Porol proposed the “Spiritual Train” (精霊列車). This would change drastically the transport inside Little Garden because it would be faster and could carry even more people/materials than Astral Gates. So we can expect a lot of changes in a near future.
- Last Gift Game
Long short story. Asuka managed to defeat… I mean kill Faceless. Sweet scene where the sisters finally found the family they always longed for. Faceless had a gift stronger than “Genome Tree” which is Kusanagi. Too lazy to search for the correct term but Kusanagi would be something like a “2-digit Gift”. Asuka got a pretty strong Gift to help her in her new journey. Ah, almost forgot but Queen Halloween is the one who is going to “send” her to other worlds. So her relation with Halloween still continues.
We got a battle royale thing between Luilui, Izayoi, Yo and Gry. Luilui actually gave Izayoi some trouble (yep, he is getting stronger too) and by the end we have the long awaited Izayoi X Yo. Actually we only got the result because the fight was just too long (7 days). Yo lost because Izayoi had more stamina. This means that Yo failed in her first Gift Game as a leader, failed in her first discourse (Izayoi wasn’t listening to her) and was defeated in a duel. Her reactions were pretty cute after this. Yeah, Yo as new leader looks like a good deal.
Izayoi decided to leave the community for some time in order to have some fun in Little Garden (to decide if he is going to live as a hero or as his own self). Gry and Kuro Usagi decided to go with him. After all “No Name” is already pretty strong with all those maids.
Another prologue
Saigou Homura (>Saigou) decided to accept the conditions from Kudou Ayato (Faceless reincarnation, she has her previous memories lol) in order to recreate (his special power) the perpetual motion machine to save Canaria foster home. Suzuka (Rin’s sister?) said he is resembling Izayoi. Mikado Tokuteru (Taishakuten) is accompanying them since Izayoi “disappeared” in order to not let a new Last Embryo appear again.
- Conclusion
Yeah, that was a summary (?) of the last volume. It feels more like a private note to myself but welp. We got a lot of answers but Ouroboros’ identity, the one who was spying Taishakuten, Laplace and Croix talking (Storyteller?) and if the ones in the illustration of the continuation “Last Embryo – Mondaiji-tachi no Kikan” are actually the three of the Another prologue: Homura, Ayato (blond) and Suzuka are still to be answered.
The main event of the second part will probably be the Gift Game related to the Sun’s authorities. Everyone is going to be there in some way or other unless another Last Embryo is actually going to appear… Any one of them would be pretty awesome too. Even so I still prefer a Gift Game like the last one in this volume (just like volume 5 in the Underwood arc). Fun for fun. Comedy. Some character development. This is what I love the most in Mondaiji.
I’m really hyped for the second part considering a time-skip is a given (3 years it seems) and everyone is going to come back stronger (high hopes for Asuka). Jin’s side is also pretty interesting too and I can’t wait to see the new and old mondaijis together. June can’t come soon enough.

Actually not. Without Jack Will-O’-Wisp lost their best “host”, one of the strongest players they had and most of their income (Jack’s artworks). They moved to No-Name’s place because it’s dangerous for them to continue on the North Region. For the time being Willa’s going to be a maid at No-Name (they’re from the same alliance after all) because she still didn’t decide what to do with Will-O’-Wisp from now on.
And Luilui (ルイルイ) is Laius’ (ルイオス) “nickname” (I guess the translator uses other name?).
Faceless and Asuka were sisters?O.o
Yep. Faceless (Ayato) died at birth so they never actually met each other at Earth. Faceless knew about Asuka since the start though.
But if she died how did she end up in Little Garden?
I’m not exactly sure on that but it probably goes like this:
Asuka = “Divine Spirit” Gift; Ayato (Faceless) = “Divine Spirit” Body
Because of the origin of Kudou’s family and all that (Imperial bloodline + descendent of someone from No-Name). But someone with a “Divine” body wasn’t “supposed to exist”, so she was taken into Little Garden = dying in her original world (not sure about this part). Probably something close to Oda Nobunaga in Mondaiji’s universe. He has to die at the Honnouji incident. If he somehow survives he is “transported” to Little Garden because his death is the reason for a Paradigm Shift. Ayato being alive would probably change a lot the world (another paradigm shift?) Asuka lived in…
Also Halloween is a festival where the “dead” come back to life and that’s why she is under Queen Halloween. Just like Jack? Or something similar to his case I guess. Then again I don’t remember a lot of stuff from Asuka’s origin/theory so I’m kinda lost too =/
Saigou Homura who was like Izayoi’s little brother was in the original time line (the one which wasn’t messed up by Canaria) Izayoi’s father ????
? I think Homura is actually Izayoi’s real little brother. In fact (Izayoi and) Homura’s parents were the ones who created the perpetual motion machine. He is just going to recreate it.
Wait can you explain to me who are the three people in the last picture promoting the date for the new volume? Im so confused
It is not confirmed but they are probably Saigou Homura, Kudou Ayato and Ayazato Suzuka (left to right). They are probably going to be the new 3 “mondaijis” that are going to appear at the second part but we will only know for sure when the next volume comes out in june.
Ah thanks for clearing that up! Final question then so does that mean the storys over for (You,Asuka,Izayoi)? There my favorites it’ll kill me if there gone for good.!
No, it is far away from being over. They’ll certainly be on the new series, it’s just that our main cast will increase even more 😀

well want to confirm about few thing, since i only can read english translation only, if i said worng please correct it :
1. Romance, until end of vol 12 there is no romance either for Kurousagi, Izayoi, Asuka and Yo? really hope i can saw Izayoi X Leticia, because she is the one who know Izayoi past (vol 3) and know connection with Canaria. btw there iss no hint about Izayoi and Kurousagi, knowing they elope (well, travel) together?
2. “Asuka kill Faceless”, so from here, the “sister” of asuka in her timeline is dead, and brought back to little garden only to be dead again? and the he reincarnate in izayoi timeline with homura and shizuka and (hopefully) become side char in next series (well for me izayoi is always the MC 😛 )?
3. Do you know what “sickness” was kill Canaria ?
4. with Yo became leader of No-Name, how about Jin Russel? will he go with his harem (pest and Lily) ?

1) There is no romance at all even for Izayoi/Kuro Usagi. Maybe something happened during the time skip but we’ll only know in the future volumes.
2) Yeah. Ayato died at birth > Turned into Faceless at the Little Garden and was killed by Asuka > Ayato at Homura’s timeline/world > Gonna be one of the MCs at Last Embryo (pretty much confirmed, she is actually in the cover of the first volume).
3) Urgh, don’t remember at all about this. I don’t even remember if it was mentioned at all in the LN.
4) Well, he is going with Highness and his “party” creating a new Demon Lord’s Alliance. He is with Pest and Sandra who are his only? “harem members” for now.
3. didn’t seem like a sickness to me… There are some religions who believe in the spirit being connected to the body. A spiritual wound can cause the body to fall into decay. This then leads to the spiritual offering that Canaria did to rewrite a certain part of history for the early appearance of Izayoi. For that offering, she also gave up her Divinity. Being a hundred over years old…. without Divinity…. yeah you get it. XD
canaria was killed because she had transfer all her power into izayo, or it was to create izayo(dont remember which it was), and because of that she was given limited time to live.which is why she never attempted into returning to little garden
Sorry for the late reply. Canaria died because she was sick, wasn’t it? Izayoi’s power didn’t come from her so there is no direct relation between these facts.
Thank you for the clarifications, I mistakenly thought that Rin and Suzuka was the same person due to some misunderstanding of the ch translator’s words. Ch to Eng translator on BakaTsuki used Lulu because it sounded cuter than luilui perhaps. 😀

Well… lately there’s so much i informations that many people edit because of the spoiler information about mondaiji tachi new season. I’m getting confused.
Mondaiji always had a fair amount of new information in every volume so that’s somewhat expected. Just wait for the translations that it is better. Even I get confused and I’m reading every volume so trying to understand everthing with incomplete summaries like these is even more hard lol

How strong is Asuka right now ,how was she able to defeat faceless ? Since kusanagi is a 2 digit Gift then Faceless was at least as strong as Izayoi right ?
And also what was the Gift which she obtained ?
She defeated Faceless because Kusanagi does have some strong restrictions if I’m not mistaken. Asuka still wasn’t as strong as Izayoi or Yo by this time. Oh, I guess I didn’t write well enough but she got Kusanagi for herself. She is probably going to appear soon in Last Embryo so we’ll be able to see how strong she got.

Nowhere… yet. Well, Volume 11 was pretty much “everyone” going against Azi so you can imagine how awesome was this volume.
So, I don’t understand. If Izayoi wasn’t suppose to win a fair fight. Whats that supposed to mean? Does it mean that he would have to lose horribly(like physically?) during the battle against Azi Dahaka? And promptly wins against him? Excluding Kurousagi Cheating Lance and Highness Protection. Because it sucks that Izayoi would have to find the answer if he wanted to know that he could have beaten Azi Dahaka all by himself, since Azi Dahaka is practically dead! How can he find the answer? Huh…Anyway, Izayoi is destined to fight against Azi! I mean he is the Hero! So why?
Hm? I guess I didn’t write well enough. The “fair fight” means that Izayoi would end up winning against Azi no matter how “weak” he were. That’s because he is the “Hero”. So even if he didn’t have the help of Kuro Usagi/Highness; other people or other circumstances would lead him to the victory. He himself can’t accept that for two reasons:
1. All the other people fighting against Azi could die at any moment (just like Jack), while Izayoi would certainly come out alive no matter what.
2. His own pride regarding his power. I mean, he does have confidence in himself but he knew he couldn’t defeat Azi by himself at that time. He is frustrated because he lacked power to defeat Azi.
The search for this answer is in order for him to accept this truth and think if he really wants to be the “Hero” or not. I mean, Izayoi does have enough raw power but he lacks some kind of technique/Gift that would allow him to deal a decisive blow or change the flow of a battle. It is not like he does have to fight Azi once more, it is more like he does have to step up to Azi’s level for the future battles, for the sake of No Name and for himself. So that he doesn’t have to rely on this “Hero” thing to win a battle anymore. In the end Izayoi just wants to win because of what he is and not because he is destined to be a “Hero”/”Savior” or something similar.
Sounds as bullshit as the ending of “A Simple Monitoring”
it means that izayoi wants fight fair and square, without relying to the others… so that he can proud that he fight strong enemies with just his power…. am i right???
I have a question. If Izayoi wields a bladed weapon that has the same ability as him to destroy Gifts. Can it be use against His Highness’s Gift? Because if Highness’s Gift is protect myself against bladed weapons. And Izayoi’s Gift is to cancel other Gifts, so can the bladed weapon wielded by Izayoi damages Highness?
i believe izayoi never wields a bladed weapon, because he have two gifts, one cancel other gifts and second the gift to destroy everything….
Another one will you? If Faceless fought against Izayoi and uses her Kusanagi which is a 2-Digit Gift, can Izayoi destroy that with his fist?
Furthermore, how strong is Izayoi’s Gift? I mean, canceling other Gifts is a POWERFUL Gift. Also, is the Gift itself in its full potential? Other than the Aurora.
Sorry, but I can’t answer your questions considering that Izayoi’s Gift was never related to cancel/destroy other gifts. Not as far as I can remember. Then again I’m not that confident on my memory…
There wasn’t a proper explanation about the true extents of Izayoi’s ability until now so it’s hard to consider about these possibilities. Maybe after Last Embryo 2 but who knows when it is actually coming out…

It’s supposed to be Izayoi but who knows. It may actually be Homura depending on what happens from now on.

His two main objectives are related to No-Name (finding the Maou who defeated them in the past) and for Pest. Creating a Demon King alliance actually works better for him so that’s why. There are more reasons (like his ability) but I don’t remember enough details to describe it now.

I’d say to wait for the translations but with this DCMA thing… Anyway, Azi’s last words to Izayoi (don’t trust my translation that much):
Azi: “Don’t be ashamed. If you know nothing, learn here. This trembling is called fear.”
Iza: “I-It’s not!”
Azi: “No. And don’t forget. You moved forward even while trembling in fear. This is courage.”
